ENGLISH - GATEWAY TO COMMUNICATION The principal objective of the English Department is to increase students knowl- edge and usage of the English language. GUIDANCE COUNSELOR PLAYS VITAL ROLE Mrs. Dorthea Quimby has planned and supervised the guidance program at Satsuma for the past three years. Mrs. Quimby is always available to help students with their academic and personal problems. She helps students select their vocations and plan their course of study. One of her chief pro- jects is assisting students in obtaining college scholarships. Mrs. Quimby also conducts the testing program at school. Mrs. Quimby received her Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. LIBRARY GROWS AS ENROLLMENT INCREASES The tremendous growth of student en- rollment is evident in the new book shelves added to the library. Bach shelf will accomodate five books for every new student added to the school enrollment this year. To fill the shelves the P. T.A. start- ed a fund raising project. [ 4 ]

COMMERCIAL STUDENTS PREPARE FOR BUSINESS CAREER Six commercial subjects: Typing, shorthand, recordkeeping, bookkeeping, business law and business math are offered to students who plan a commercial career. Nell Floyd Livingston State B.S. A-LM -Audio-Lingual Materials, a new method of teaching languages, places emphasis on develop- ment of listening and speaking skills.
