GUIDANCE COUNSELOR PLAYS VITAL ROLE Mrs. Dorthea Quimby has planned and supervised the guidance program at Satsuma for the past three years. Mrs. Quimby is always available to help students with their academic and personal problems. She helps students select their vocations and plan their course of study. One of her chief pro- jects is assisting students in obtaining college scholarships. Mrs. Quimby also conducts the testing program at school. Mrs. Quimby received her Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. LIBRARY GROWS AS ENROLLMENT INCREASES The tremendous growth of student en- rollment is evident in the new book shelves added to the library. Bach shelf will accomodate five books for every new student added to the school enrollment this year. To fill the shelves the P. T.A. start- ed a fund raising project. [ 4 ]

Mrs. Pauline Shaw, registrar, posts grades, plans schedules, and sends transcripts to other schools and colleges for students. Serving as Mr. Faulk's secretary, is Mr. Pauline McPherson, Mrs. McPherson's responsibilities in- clude correspondence, filing and preparing the daily absentee re- ports. Mrs. George Willis, the bookkeeper, handles all matters concerning the collection and expenditure of funds. She is also in charge of the payroll for the school.

ENGLISH - GATEWAY TO COMMUNICATION The principal objective of the English Department is to increase students knowl- edge and usage of the English language.
