Our class officers for the year are: President, Juanita Burkholder, Vice President, Iva Hart, Secretary, Margaret Macy, Treasurer, Glenn Dobeyg Reporter, Ralph McClaugherty, Historian, jean Stoeber, Student Council Representative, Milton Mathias, and our sponsor, Miss Rominger. Two of our main events for the year were first, our class party and our freshmen initia- tion. On a cool November evening we met at the school house, where we loaded into a truck for a gay hay ride. After riding for some time we ended up at Saathoff's barn, where we learned to do several new dances, especially square dances, with the help of our guest, Mr. Blackburn. Second, we were all looking forward to initiating seventeen freshmen into the high school. They came dressed as circus characters and we gave our initiation the name of Ginger Rominger's 'Sl'-Ring Circus, as we hope to graduate in 1951. Other achievements of the year were receiving second place for our Christmas decora- tions, receiving our long awaited class banner, which is in our class colors, lavender and white, 'fand working very hard to eam money at food sales and concessions. This money will be used for our prom next year. Also this year we are very happy to have three of our girls as cheer- leaders: jean and lane Stoeber and juanita Burkholder. We have had many gay times this year and in the years to come will remember it as a wonderful year in high school. Page Twenty-two

The banquet, prepared by the juniors' mothers and served by the sophomore boys, was held at the cafeteria and an enjoyable evening was spent dancing by the oceanside to the music of the Key Notes . As the tradition goes, we were green-but we caught on fast. Mr. Lawson was our sponsor and Donald Hudson, president, Arthur Maes, vice president, Nancy Akers, secretary, Ninfa Romero, treasurerg Barbara Selters, reporter, Doris Starbuck, student council representative, and Margaret Jeanne Goehl, historian. We were all a bit afraid of initiation, but when it was all over we agreed that we had just as much fun as the sophomores. As part of the initiation, we gathered wood for the Homecoming bonfire. Our class parties were a highlight of the year and we all enjoyed them very much. We entered the Christmas decorating contest. Our theme was Santa's Workshop, and for the second year we won first place. Throughout the year there were many events which we attended or participated in. For the freshmen of 1948 and 1949 it has been a wonderful year and a lasting memory to us all. qclv ff 1 J fmfffqyfw iii .il jk Page Twenty-three
