Freshmen This year the mighty class of '5l met at the doors of Sargent as Freshmen, our sponsor was Miss Ptominger, with Don Kehler as presidentg Milton Mathias, vice presidentg Billy rlihorne, treasurerg Robert David, secretaryg and Wayne Todd, student-council representative. Our hopes were high, although we were a little green, and we did our best. We were all worried about the initiation, but it was lots of fun. As part of our initiation, we gathered wood for a huge bonfire at the Homecoming. Other highlights of our year were our class parties. For the first one, we had an ice- skating party, topped off with a Weiner roast and dance. On our second we went to Salida with the intention of swimming. We all survived and had a swell time. Through the year were many enjoyable events. Next year we will look back and say, Wliat a really wonderful year, as it really was. Page 'l'wm1y-four

Thirteen is a lucky number, and our class consists of thirteen people. In the fall we were lucky to be able to initiate twenty-six nursery-rhyme characters into the Sargent High School. After the initiation assembly, they ceased being characters and became just freshmen. We think the thing that shocked them into being freshmen and not characters was seeing one of their members huddled apparently naked in a wash tub repeat- ing over and over rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub. Also, a small class can get around a table, so our class had a party to celebrate the approach of St. Nick. There was chicken and dressing with all the trimmings, gifts that could only have been thought up by Santa's most mischievous helpers, and candy canes to assist those who became too hilarious. In March came the intramural basketball toumament. Lady Luck deserted us, and we wound up in the cellar. Paqe Twenty- th
