WCLASS HISTORY' In September, l9ul, the good shlp 'SHS Class of 'A weighed anchor at Freshman dock and started off on the flrst lap of 1ts journey through Hlgh School Harbor Our crew conslsted or A5 green Nlandlubbersn under Captain Hamer and Junior Off1C6TS Ruth Connely, Floyd Finley, fPres I Dick Powers, Eldon Chalupa, KV Pres J Elalne Wolsleben, and Marion Bryson CSec, and Treas J We enjoyed several parties during th1s crulse and docked at Sargent for the summer on May 18 The following September we again set sail but our rating had been promoted to Sophomores Our crew had now been reduced to 39, as Irene Fuller, Pauline Wellington Ellwyn Amos, Lorene Boro, Paul Coen, Floyd Finley, and Rex Leibert had taken other ships, our crew was Joined at the outset of th1s cruise by Marvin Wolf Our Captain for thls journey was Mlss Marjorie Smith and Junior Officers were Marrin Wolf, fPres J Richard V1SGK, CV Pres I Edward Sllver, I Sec I and Kitty Hughes iTreas J Our ship made good time and again docked at Sargent ln May After our advancement to Juniors, we again pulled away from the dock in September Our crew, now reduced to 36, had lost Edward Sllver, Betty Ann Visek, Lucllle Codr, and Doris Lee Currey, but had gained two new members in Marie Hrebec and Wllma Snell Captained by Mr Bomberger and his aides Robert St6lHhOff, CPres J Ernest Mosley, KV Pres J and Anlta Ailshle fTreas Sec J we had a most adventurous trip, lncludlng such events as presentlng our Jr Class Play, For Pete's Sake, wlnning the 1nter class basketball tournament, and g1VlDg the Junlor Senlor Banquet wlth WF1estaN theme We again pulled 1nto Sargent ln May for our final check up Setting sail for the flnal phase of our tralnlng, we lost Doug Beattie, Eloise Mlner, Wllma Snell, and LaOra Phillips to other crews, but were JO1H6d by Marie and Irma Vose, Lucille Brown, and Alice Swanson Our crew now numbered only BA, but what we had lost 1n numbers we felt we had gained in experience, for we now were looked upon by the underclassmen as the wise and mlghty Senlors Under Captaln McIntosh and Officers Marie Vose, CPres J Leona Janulewicz, CV Pres J Marion Bryson, Kitty Hughes, CSec J and Ern'e Mosley CTreas J we under took our flnal journey High points of the year were agaln winning the inter class basketball tournament, the Senior Class Play, 'The Funny Brats' the Junlor Senior Banquet, Sneak Day, and of course the two very lmportant nlghts Baccalaureate and Commencement Now, after completlng these tralning periods and upon sailing at last into the open sea we can truly say 'We have crossed the bay, the ocean lles before us' 22 I ' 'Y 6:1 . . .
