A man dealt a poor hand from the great big dealer in the sky. Pat was born with the humiliating birth defect of having a pen protruding from his mouth, a defect he has been able to conceal remarkably well until now. His was the first documented case ever of this cruel defect arising from ex- cessive writer ' s cramp during his mother ' s pregnancy. We learned later, that Patrick is undergoing surgery at this time and his condition is unknown. Apparently, Pat ' s condition isn ' t all that uncommon. JUST CLOWNING AROUND 52 nr Earlier this year, a strange plague overtook Saratoga High School, transforming a niiinlicr ol students and a few faculty members into beasts and zombies who roamed the hallways. For several weeks, the strange creatures nearly overtook the school, while school officials tried to find the origin of the odd disease. Finally, Tom Cottone, a student and part-time P.I. discovered what caused the transformations while in the lunch line. Unalflicted biology and chemistry students worked around the clock, sacrificing soap operas and weekend parties, trying to find an antidote to reverse the horrible translormation that almost 1 5 of the school had undergone. The search continued until finallv . . 53 TF= . . . This man found the cure. People hned up outside the auxiliary gym to receive the antidote, until finally, everyone was attended to. The transformation back was swift, and immediately afterwards, students and school officials began an in- tensive search to find the person or possibly terrorist organization behind this. To this date, no one has been found responsible . . . . but we have our suspicions. Today, the only four people that the antidote had apparently no effect on have come out of hiding and are trying to lead normal lives as students at Saratoga High. 54 ATHLETE AUTOGRAPH PAGE .o ' o- -4 J cr cr . r d - c ' rJ- ,. , ' - V ' StT - - c- .c V j 55 ' „ lf.:i , iJi.Jl, ' .:: ' m 56 • jil L i,2 L 1 DO HOT TQt JBp H 5 AUTOGRAPH PAGE n |; tY pjuo -fy f ftxppO ■t ' I 3SI3 - R ii -jjjtnP x - WAT ftfo ■p )JC) -A- JS5m,C C X« Wh pi 58 Wjm p|H HHBv 59 ORGANIZATIONS RECORDER STAFF LIBRARY CLUB D.E.C.A. At first it seemed like a lot of extra work piled on top of the already time-consuming task of putting together a yearbook, but after a lot of serious thought and a will- ingness to work, the 1986 Recorder Staff decided to make the Index an addition to the Recorder. The next eight pages are the result of months of hard legwork and typing. We hope that you, as graduating seniors, faculty, and underclassmen, find this index both in- formative and useful towards getting to know Saratoga Springs High School ' s graduating class for 1986. The Index is organized alphabetically by last name and works in the following manner. Senior s name Senior ' s Preferred Nickname Month and Day of Birth Any clubs or sports that Senior participated in If the Senior had no sports or activities, then Hobbies and Interests are listed. The pages that the Senior appears on, ex- cluding candid pages. l Name Nickname Birthday Interests Sports Clubs Pages appear- ing on. Over 260 students filled up the T.A. to witness the first of its kind event. Ten acts competed in two rounds, syncing songs as popular as Madonna ' s Crazy For You and the Pointer Sisters ' Neutron Dance and as outrageous as I Love Onions. All the acts were outstanding, which made it very difficult for celebrity judges, Dave Patterson, Arlene Strader, and her husband, Mr. Strader. However, after two and a half hours of competition, the $50 grand prize was awarded to the group, Bellevue for syncing They ' re Coming to Take Me Away and I Love Onions. Second place went to Spazz for Revenge of the Nerds and Lamar ' s Rapp. Third place went to the Four Seasons and a Month for Tempted and Oh, What a Night. The yearbook staff would like to extend their thanks to Tim Hamer, our light and sound engineer. Ken Mark, our celebrity judges, and all the partici- pants for making this event possible. Many things affected our lives as High School students, ranging from television and the media, down to simple fads that will be gone as quickly as they come. For the 1985-86 school year, Saratoga Springs High School students voted that the event which most affected them this year was the tragic explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. The most popular television show for the year was tied between Miami Vice and the Cosby Show. This year ' s fashion fad also goes along with this because Saratoga students voted that the Don Johnson-look was most prominent. And finally, the favorite movie for the year was also a tie between Rambo and Back to the Future. 171 fr tf ' — ' pf i-—i-j mwnv. When we first started out in September, we had no staff except for myself and Jeanne Bouchard, and we had no advisor. I had doubts that there would even be a yearbook this year. But, James Stanton and Nancy Pastore, both of whom a lot of credit must go to, stepped in and got the ball rolling. It was a year of serious trials, selling ads, meeting deadlines, and keeping our tempers, but we managed, and had a lot of fun in doing it. I have to thank my edito- rial staff, Beth Scarano, Sarah Parks, and Cassandra Garcia for their help with the pages. Without them, this would have been a much smaller book. I must also thank Jeanne Bouchard and Wendy Renadette for the outsanding job they done with Yearbook Aid, we desperately needed the dough. My thanks also go to Melisa Recker and the business staff for working so hard to sell those ads. We had a big yearbook with an even bigger bill, so definitely, without your efforts this book would not have been possible. Lastly, I thank Mr. Stanton who ' s smiling face and dirty jokes kept us going when things were looking down. Jim, it ' s gonna be all right! Oh, and we can ' t forget Miss Pastore, for without her infinite guidance and business skills, this yearbook would been way out of line and locked up at the Censorship Board. Enjoy! Marc LeChevet Editor-in-Chief P.S. — Thanks, Tony. You ' re a good teacher and friend. 4AJULA vJUlOXJtuA, (ti CJ-J- 0. Ju y Uj) pOOct S AJ- U-TOnrvUv . 1 LJ -TV?
