Agon De ea! Battle of the Classes You can be cool, making cl fool out of yourself ' - C. Kolinek Would you dare to make yourself look like a fool in front of a whole lunch crowd? Were you one of the few who proudly competed for your class in Class Competition? Even if you didn't, many other representatives from the Freshman, Sophomore,Junior, and Senior classes did. The participants were led by the two Stu- dent Government Athletic Directors, Eileen Maul and Matt Ellis. Matt was most often seen announcing the competitions, while Ei- leen organized and supervised the events. Both Matt and Eileen felt that Class Competi- tion needed a few new twists to add to the excitement. One way they did this was to move the competitions from Thursday to Fri- day. They also thought up many new, creative competitions. Many of these competitions followed the theme of the semi-weekly pep- rallies or with the opposing team. The week we played the Granite Hills Eagles, a Eat an Eagle Nugget, contest was held, The tradi- tional competitions included egg tossing, pie throwing, Pepsi Chug-a-Lugs, and pizza eat- ing. Class Competition reached it's climax dur- ing Greek Week. The classes battled one an- other in Tug-o-Wars,relay races and the clas- sic Chariot race. Students not only competed for their class glory, but for the grand prize of Greek Week. A ten pound Hershey's Choco- late Bar. What compels students to participate in Class Competition? Well, Curtis Kolinek said, It's the only time you can be cool by making a fool out of yourself. '-4----....,.,..
