198 Music This year the Santa Teresa High School Jazz Band is under the leadership of the music department’s new arrival, Galen Lemmon. Despite the addition of four new members and the meeting of class at the crack of dawn, the band is doing well. The group made its debut at the San Jose City Jazz Festival and received many favorable comments from the adjudicator. The next gig was at the local community center for a senior citizens’ luncheon. The old folks were really brought to life by the band’s rendition of In the Mood and Two O'Clock Jump, tunes from the early 40’s. The band is now in the process of preparing for the Reno Jazz Festival, which they will attend in March, followed by many other con- certs in the spring. The only problem with the band is that it will lose ten of its senior members this year.
