Varsity Wrestling This year the Saints Wrestlers were plagued by a number of different injuries and hardships. The season started with a dual meet tournament in which they won 6 and lost 2, placing 3rd overall. Going directly into the M.H.A.L. season, the Saints were without 4 starters. They lost the first 3 duals. However, the test of a good team is the ability to come back. The Saints finished the remainder of the season undefeated (6-3), placing 3rd in the M.H.A.L. At the M.H.A.L. finals, the Saints qualified 6 to the CCS. They were Arnold Khanbabian, 5th, Jason Ng, 5th, Eric DeLa Rosa, 2nd, Rich Fambrini, 3rd, Todd Harman, 6th, Ron Garcia, 2nd, and Ivan Clarke, Champion. Ivan Clarke Eric De La Rosa Rich Fambrini Bill Foster Aron Gaus Pete Gustafson Highlighting the tournament season was Ivan Clarke. Ivan placed: 1st Coast Classic and was MVP, 1st Dr. Abraham and was MVP, 3rd MSJ, 3rd Mid-Cal Championships and M.H.A.L. Champion MVP. Ivan’s overall record is 28-3 with 22 pins. Still to come is CCS and The State Meet. Captains for this year’s varsity wrestling were Jim Metz and Ivan Clarke. 148 Varsity Wrestling

Frosh-Soph Wrestling This year’s Frosh Soph wrestling team posted a 7-win 2- loss record, only good for 3rd place in the M.H.A.L. The teams this year were well matched. The tournament placings for the Saints were 8th at the Silver Creek F S tournament, 3rd at the Overfelt F S tournament. Stand-outs for the Saints were John Tomlinson, John Garcia, Mike Ross, Dorius Gomez, Jack Reiker, Tim Lisemby, Brent Johnson. Captain for the Saints was John Tomlinson. In order to fill voids in the Varsity line-up, Jimmy Ventura, John Tomilson and John Ordonio were brought up to the Varsity team. Jimmy Ventura came through for the Saints by placing 6th in the Varsity M.H.A.L. Each of the Frosh-Soph wrestlers will be aching for a chance to crack in to the Varsity line-up in 1982. Great Season!
