FKOSH BASEBALL with a convincing 5-0 shutout victory over Bellarman H.S. Mike Thorschmidt was the pitching standout in the game, allowing only one hit over the 5 innings he pitched. Short stop Brian Anderson provided the offensive punch with a key 2-run double. The teams in our league that should provide the strongest competition are Piedmont Hills, Oak Grove, Hill, and Overfelt. VARSITY SOCCER In simply looking over our record (2-8-2) one might conclude that the team had a disheartening season. This, however, was not the case. In our 1st contest, the Saints came away with a 3-0 win over Westmont. Val Horvatich, Mike Fox and John Souza played strong on defense. The real highlights came during the final week of the season against Milpitas. Bob Strohmeir finally scored ST's first league goal with ahead shot to the corner of the net. Another goal by Keith Thomas gave the team a 2-0 victor}'. In the final game of the season against arch-rival Oak Grove, we really played well. With everyone coming back the team is looking forward to next season with high hopes. JV BASEBALL The success of the Junior Varsity Saints will be deter- mined by desire and hustle. We have many outstanding prospects who have not been tested by high school com- petition. Tony Chukes, Kevin Mulheam, and Ken Jobe should provide one of the top mound staffs in the league. The keystone combo of Brian Anderson and Paul Yohanon will be very solid defensively.
