The young Saints posted a record of 7 wins and 17 losses in their first season. Among the more notable accomplishments of the season despite inexperience were: an upset 57-56 victory over Piedmont Hills in the first league game ever; back to back victories over Yerba Buena and Andrew Hill at the end of the campaign; and many other gutty performances along the way. Sophomore Rich Campbell led the cagers in scoring with a 10.3 average and in rebounding averaging 9.3 a game. During the last four contests Rich hauled down an amazing 70 rebounds. Kip Nelson, the team's captain, was second in both departments scoring at a 10.0 clip per contest while grabbing 8 rebounds a game. Kip scored a season high of 29 pts. against Hill. Frosh Tony Chukes was also a stand-out leading the team in assists and did a fine job of bringing the ball up court against constant pressure. Tony was also the teams 3rd leading scorer averaging 8.1 per game. Mike Perry came on at the end of the season to spark the Saint's to 3 victories in 8 games. Rex Tate was the speedster of the team and was the leading scorer the last 2 games. Joe Moline was a starting guard almost all season. Next year should be successful and exciting for coach Glen Miller's young Saints.
