Clarence XVegel The bright spot of the juniors' year of activity was the pre- sentation of the annual junior-senior prom. The gala affair was held in the gymnasium on December 21. Toy soldiers made of red and white striped paper chaperoned the gay dancers as they kept time to Howard Gahbert's Biltmore Orchestra. Santa Claus, on his throne, presided throughout the evening. Toadstools, dolls, mickey mice, blocks, and tin horns, placed about 11nder a canopy of white and green stars, helped carry out the general theme, Toyland . IJaintily-decorated cakes and punch were served during the intermissions. Members of the junior class acted as hosts and hostesses to the seniors. Beside the prom sponsored by the juniors, this class also spon- sored one of the school dances held in the gymnasium. It also gave several dances for the benefit of the members of the class who wanted to learn to dance. The junior class was prominent in the C. S. F. society this year, live members being in the federation. Theda Call and Vernon Duncan acted as officers for the club during the first and second semesters, respectively. Ar the County Commercial Contest held in Hay, the class, being represented by seven outstanding students of the commercial department, was successful in having Adean Payne take second place in the second-year typing division, and Rlaurice Ragner take second place in the Hrst-year shorthand division. Two delegates were elected from the class to attend the Southern California Girls' League Convention held in Klay. ,liixiou c'LAss nan, .l. Keller, Ayers, Allen, Gordon, limherton, Q V. Ritter, Mathews, VVygant, Roclriqncz, Garcia I'rcciaclo, Tharp, Mcfall, Vtollen, Morisoli. Undoubtedly a large part of next year's football team will be made from the present junior class, due to the fine turn-out this year. Two of the junior boys made the all-county team this year. The B basketball team, which succeeded in capturing county honors and entered the quarter finals of the C. I. F. play-off, was composed mostly of junior boys. The baseball team drew several members and the manager from the junior class. The class was also active in tennis and track. The track team had a good supply of juniors who scored heavily at the track meets. Bob Serey and Harold Fortress were outstanding in their particular field events and entered the Southern California C. I. F. meet. Itlembers of the junior class were active along dramatic and musical lines, in spite of the fact that there was no junior play or operetta. Several from the class were in the dramatic club, which produced a play at the Pasadena Community Playhouse Contest. Two members of the class, Helen Sharp and Evelyn Le Schofs, took prominent parts in this play. Three students from the junior English class also presented a one-act play for the P.-T. A. The winner of the Toastmasters' school, county, and Santa Barbara Divisional Con- tests was a member of this class, Vernon Duncan, who succeeded in placing third at the Toastmasters' International held in Pomona. Five boys and eleven girls in the glee clubs were juniors, while there were four juniors in the double trio. The class was well represented in both the orchestra and the band.
