BuT The girls have an addiTional worry: Their uniform. How do you make a plain whiTe blouse and a plaid skirT sTylish'? AlThough rules seT The limiTs in mosT areas, many sTudenTs sTill had doubTs. So on The firsT day of school, unsuspecTing freshmen wore Their skirTs a fooT longer Than any of The oTher classes. YeT wiThin a week Their skirTs were hemmed, and They began To blend in The crowd. As The freshmen sTarT To learn The rouTlne aT SanTa Clara, They are more aT ease. EvenTually They open Their mouThs aT rallies. UnforTunaTely Their efforTs, no maT- Ter how persisTenT, are meT wiTh boos. They learned The hard way ThaT To be iniTiaTed inTo S.C. you musT go Through a Typical 'fresh- man' period. BuT when The pace slows down and The hard Times are Through, They realize They are an imporTanT parT of SanTa Clara. As The weeks go by and They become more accusTomed To high school, They see ThaT life as a freshman isn'T so bad. IT was even kinda fun.
