Growing To nderstand Each Other I came as a freshman feeling alone and afraid, not knowing what to expect from you. My image of you was strict, scholarly and a little unkind. You were an authority figure like the written law, with cold hard facts, and no exceptions. My second year of high school, I thought I knew it all. I lashed out at you with mocking rebellion, but deep inside I had no harmful intentions. The barrier between the students and the teachers be- gan to break down, and I saw you as a person with feelings. A slight change began to take place, but I didn't fully acknowledge it yet. As I moved on to my third year I realized what a learning exper- ience my past two years had been. Right away I recognized the change between us. We became friends, and began to talk easily with one another. I learned that your comments were not meant to criticize but rather to motivate. Through your discipline and strength I've learned valuable habits that will contribute to a successful future. As a senior at the peak of my high school years, l'd like to say thanks, My rebellious ways and arroganace were a lot to put up with. You are a freind who will be in my heart today, tomorrow, and always. I've seen that being a teacher takes a great amount of patience and conscious effort. You deserve full credit. Thank you.
