Hghting To A Strong Hmsh During The 4985-86 season, The girls varsiTy Team knew ThaT They would be up againsT Tough compeTiTion, and ThaT hard work would be The only way To confronT The challenges ahead. Varsity Captures Fran trer League Crown For The S.C. varsiTy baskeTbaIl Team, 4985-86 was a year of blending The new wiTh The old: The old of a long TradiTion of excel- lence found in anoTher successful season, and The new of 'll firsT year varsiTy players joining only four re- Turning leTTermen. The Team's inexperience was apparenT in Their slow sTarT wiTh early season losses To Calabasas and VenTura. However The Team grew in experience as The season conTinued and even was able To overcome The adversiTy of The loss of sTarTers, Phil Fancher and Fred SanTana, To injuries. EnTering league play wiTh a pre- season record of 7-6, The fuTure was unpredicTable aT besT. BuT The Team jelled and rolled To a FronTier League Championship, finishing wiTh an impressive 8-O record.
