Dolores Gutierrez, Teresa Ward, Catherine Teague, Elizabeth Collins, Louise Zitnik, Elizabeth Wehagen, Sharon Lawrence, and Jessie Muro discuss in committee the ways ci Sodalist can influence her surroundings. Sodality aims toward ecumenical Catholic action. The officers of the Sodality conduct a general meeting under the blue and white banner of Our Lady. They are Jeanne Burnham, Secretary: Susan Matsumoto, Prefectg and Grace Shimabuku, Vice-Prefect. 86 Sodality Treasurer, Leanne Nawrocki, counts the results of her well-advertised Mission Campaign. The Catholic Action Group at Santa Clara High School is the Sodality of Our Lady. It operates under the tradi- tional motto, To Jesus Through Mary. lt endeavors to develop Christian prin- ciple. Some visible exterior activities are Mission efforts, assistance to the local poor-especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving-and the minor social functions.

' Drama takes form at Santa Clara. The fledgling Drama Club begins shaping the talents ofthe dramatic-minded students by forensic league meetings, lectures, workshops with other clubs, and school plays. Drama Club President, William Maynez, discusses with Secretary, Susan Matsumoto, methods demonstrated at a recent drama workshop. Robyn Adamina and Susan Sueyres, Drama Club Members, go over acting techniques for their recently-chosen play with Treasurer, Raymond Boucree. Clara Malinits istandingl goes over plans for the coming play with Sharyn Farrell, Nancy Long, Lorraine Croker, Carol Romero, and Katherine Hill. Ricardo Uncle Pio Perez stands amid the setting ot the play, Uncle Pio's Wallet, with his sister, Virginia Nuiiiez. Surrounding them are Uncle Pio's nieces with their boy friends. Largely, through the efforts of Sister Adele Marie and her Spanish classes, the program netted S140 tor the Peruvian Missions. 85

Forensic League members prepare to give demonstra- tion speeches in different divisions-impromptu, dramatic interpretation, poetry, etc. The students are Marianne Lucido, Nancy Farrell, Catherine Mahler, and Anita Bishop. Francis lnsalata is behind the microphone. Competent Freshmen assume student responsibilities at Santa Clara. Freshman Class Officers are: Celeste Westfall, Anthony Camuti, Mary Dee Cavanagh, and James Ryan. The Clarion, our school newspaper, is staffed by, STANDING: Lawrence Foltz Patrick Groves, John Tomko, Michele Rasch, Editor. SEATED: Dorothy Martell Susan Cresto, Susan Matsumoto, and Elizabeth Collins. Students plan trek for Forensic competition at Camarillo High School. Melissa Melott, Mary Condon, Mary Martha Olivares and Patricia Friedrich look forward to the prestige of belonging to a National Forensic League. The Clarion is the antidoted publication put out by the news staff. It informs the Student Body of all pertinent news. The Forensic League, lust recently formed, speaks its way through class time. In both their spoken and written words these organizations assist in developing an informed and balanced Student Body. - 87
