SCIENCE provide a path for prodigies ot courage. First semester seniors study elementary functions. Mr. John Burdullis demonstrates synthetic division for Dennis Sullivan and Elaine Camuti. Miss Stella Diao makes mathematics meaningful through a demonstration of the use of the number line for sophomores-Sandra Davis and Susan Clark. Mathematics is a tool for the development of a disciplined mind for all ofthe students ot Santa Clara High. For those who pursue advanced study it, also, serves as a crutch in the field of science. The biological and physical sciences offer creative and productive fields of endeavor. Here, the door to well-ordered research is opened and light of vision shines on those who work in an unbroken line ot effort, skill, and interest. M' ...' W f sf? MATHEMATICS cmd those unselfish intent on their observations of endothermic and exothermic reactions are Kathleen Holloway, Paul Elliott, John Tomko, Sister Charles Leonard, Richard Kingsland, Bruce Stewart, Teresa Ward, and Mary Joy Stewart. Katherine Friedrich, under the super- vision ot Sister Rose Louise, observes the position of the heart in the human body. Raymond Boucree, Brother Emeric, William Maynez, Sharlene Robison, and Michael Lastrico study the vector theory of physics.

PRACTICAL ARTS are a collaboration with God to cultivate His goods and make them proper. RosemaryJimenez tries her luck at the sewing machine. Practical Arts are offered in the fields of business and homemaking. With the goods of the earth, which we have received from our Creator, industry and frugality are developed and we look to God for a blessing on our honest endeavors. 20 Sister St. Bernard drills first year shorthand students in brief forms. Seniors relax after setting a decorative table. Sister Mariana approves of the accomplishment of Sharyn Farrell, Casey Hill, Dixie Stack, and Mary Cline.
