J.V. FOOTBALL FRONT ROW: From left to right, Richard Ramonette, manager, Patrick Roemer, Philip Slaton, John Diedrich, Gilbert Carbajal, James King, James Birkenshaw, John McCarthy, MIDDLE ROW: Richard Lopez, Calvin Contreras, Jack Sweetland, William Robles, Lee McCarthy, Ronald von Felden, Michael Withers, Randy Bidwell. BACK ROW: John Sotelo, Salvador Ledesma, Robert Hartman, Gene Martinez, John Peters, Gary Holder, Frank Rivera, Coach Doug Weaver, Darryl Carrier, Thomas Stout. The Santa Clara Junior Varsity football team gradually showed signs of greatness as they learned that playing as a team was far more important than playing as individuals. Coming to high school from different grammar schools, at first the JV's found it difficult to play as a team but through good coaching they realized that the winning way was the team way. Twice the JV's beat Villanova and once they tied with Simi's JV's. From this squad will come our stars of tomorrow.
