SAINTS UUWN CAMARHLU Santa Clara High's Saints, paced by hard-hitting Nico Es- camilla, battled te a 12-0 victory over Camarillo in the season's opener at Houser Field. After an electrifying 64-yard return of the opening kickoff by Escamilla, the Saints were unable to make their offense jell, but they did manage to score in the opening quarter on a 20-yard run by Nico. The final score came midway through the 4th periodg in 12 plays the Saints marched 61 yards into gloryland with fleet senior fullback, Ray Curtis, sweeping right end. SC BEATS ST.JUHN VIANNEY Santa Clara High's unbeaten Saints made it three in a row when they downed rugged St. John Vianney 25-18 in a thrill-packed game. The first score came late in the second quarter with a smashing run of 15 yards by Escamilla. After the half,the Nobles came back in power leading 16-6 at the close of the third period. The fired-up Saints scored twice in the final period. A pass from quarterback Gherini to Esca- milla covered 18 yards and then Gherini carried over for the score. The Saints recovered a Noble fumble on their own one- yard line and two plays later crushed all hopes of the Nobles with a 99-yard run by Curtis.
