Service End ston. Although she has taught home- making, chemistry, modern living, Eng- lish, reading clinic, and has been a counselor, she is probably best known for her position as tester. She has served our school community for approximately thirty-live years. During all these years she has unselfishly helped school func- tions by being adviser to the Alphas, a girls' service club, and to the Scholarship Society this past yearg she has also been a member of the Girl's League Commit- tee and the junior Statesmen faculty com- mittee. ' I I 'lihe humming of sewing machines and the sound of snipping shears were often heard coming from the room of Alrs. .lean Holland. She has primarily taught dressmaking and tailoring, and in l9-i6 became chairman of the Home Eco- nomics Department. As the result of many hours of work students produced lovely garments under her supervision. The accomplishments of her students were often displayed in the showcases in the homemaking wing and in the main hall. Nlrs. I-Iolland's marriage, which took place this past summer, was honored at the new teachers' tea which was held in September. I C I Postulates, axioms and propositions on the blackboard are the things we'll re- member about Nlr. Charles l'ruitt's mathematics room. Due to ill health, Nlr. Pruitt retired just before the Christ- mas holidays. VVhen he first began teach- ing here in 1935, he did some coachingg but later he began to teach mathematics and continued to do so until his retire- ment. His wife stated that he would pass his time resting and reading. As an expression of the Associated Student Body's appreciation for his service in our school community, a three-year subscrip- tion of I,'.S. tNYt ZL'X and Uvorfd Report was given to him as a gift. As the year draws to a close we must say farewell to several faculty members who have faithfully served our school and our community and have set an ex- cellent example for their students to follow. Mr. Robert Wormser, who has had a leave of absence during the past year, will retire temporarily for health reasons.
