Business Editor Elsie Kittelsen This year’s Business Manager for the Ariel Staff was Elsie Kittelsen. She was elected to the office by popular vote of the members of the staff. Elsie, with the aid of the staff's advisor, Mr. Edward Black, led the members to the publication of this successful Ariel. The advisor, manager, and the staff spent many hours accomplishing different assignments, such as running the annual pre-sale of the Ariel at the beginning of the year, getting sponsors for the book, taking the final orders, and, at last, distributing the Ariel. All ventures need financial backing. 4ftcei Sctatnete Firm row: Mr. Black. II. HlKRiiu . A. Harvey, |{. Wntlx. Second row: II. Iloncr. V. Winner. B. Hunter. K. Kittclacn. Third row: s. Sechreai, J . Under the capable editorship of Connie Schulz, the Ariel Literary Staff has worked together to make another top notch Ariel. The staff, consisting of three sophomores, three Juniors, and five Seniors, has toiled since the beginning of school writing assignments and meeting deadlines. With Miss Mildred Watson as advisor, the staff had the job of taking names and information accurately for the senior pictures so that these could be placed under the pictures when the book was printed, this year the running commentary throughout the book was an added task set before this industrious staff. One of the most beneficial of all the many jobs of the Ariel Literary Staff is the job of trying to capture, through the use of words, all the many activities and good times every Saint enjoys during the school year. At the end of the year the members enjoyed the annual Ariel banquet honoring all those who have worked on the yearbook. The photo work for the Ariel has usually fallen on the shoulders of one or two enthusiastic young photographers. This year the staff was increased to allow for a more complete coverage of school events and activities, as well as to ease the load from too few shoulders. This Ariel staff should be better known as the Photography Staff of Santa Ana High School, as it has done most of the pictures for the Generator in addition to its work on the yearbook. The staff, under the guidance of Mr. Gerald Bruce, advisor, had to mount the senior pictures, put the names on other class pictures, photograph scenes for the divisional pages, and supervise the taking of other pictures. During the first semester, the photography staff also sponsored a contest for snapshots for the Ariel, with a $5.00 prize for the best picture. This group was also in charge of the 1950 Ariel banquet. celebrating the successful conclusion of the year's work on the book. Photography Editor Ronald Dozier A picture is worth a thousand words.
