In this postwar period we must attempt to find the key to a better understanding in order to unlock the door to universal peace. Like children afraid of the dark, we fear most that which we do not understand. Early man distrusted even the elements until he learned to make use of them. Tribal battles and later wars between nations have grown out of misunderstanding and intolerance. Through reading and experience we can acquire knowledge of the background, the interests, and the problems of other people. As we discover how much we are alike and learn to arbitrate our differences, tolerance will grow into friendship. If each citizen tries a little more to understand himself and his neighbors, the key to lasting peace will be found and used. ( •

The Girls' League has had many projects this year serving all of Santa Ana High School. One of the first things the organization did was to sponsor the Information desk in the foyer to help new students find their way around the school. After that came the Sophomore Tea and Fashion Show, which was very successful. Then came the Pot-luck supper for all new girls. Next on their calendar was the Football dance in the La-throp auditorium after the Anaheim game. For the Chirstmas season, the Girls' League did a beautiful job of decorating the Christmas tree in the foyer. During the second term, the league sponsored the Girls' Vocational Conference, which was a great help to many girls in finding their future professions. One of the biggest activities of the Girls' League was the Co-ed Dance in March, to which the girls escorted the boys and paid all the bills. Diana Headrick was the president of the cabinet the first semester, and Helen Honer was her successor for the second semester. Presidents Helen Honer Diane Headrick First row: J. Itowray. A. Koo, M.
