In Delphi I s1w 1 little boy 1nd he in exch1nge for 1 qu1rter, told me that there was a cave called the Or1cle s c1ve 1bout two miles from town in a sm11l forest. I decided to walk out there 1nd soon came to an openin ' to 1 cave. To me it looked no different from any other c1ve but it must h1ve been since it w1s supposed to be the h1bit1t of -in oracle. I s1t down with my back against 1 tree 1nd waited for something to h1ppen. I dont know what I expected but it must h1ve been something. The old philosopher h1d told me that one must be in the proper mood to obt1in s1tisf1ction: I st1rted to get myself into the proper mood 1nd to think h1rd 1bout something to 1sl'. Suddenly it flashed into my mind. It w1s June 13 vshy not 1sk a question 1bout our old class? I h1d barely had this illuminating thought when the awfullest rumble came from inside the cave, Who seeks knowledge from the oracle? I stuttered and stammered and finally man- aged to say, 'I do. Now who, I ask you, would have expected that there was really such a thing as an oracle? What do you wish to know P next came thundering forth from the cave. 5 I 6 Di- J N Q Qt. -L Q' ' film r 7 If me if 0 q I U l , .fc J , JK XX n I S f1 N -a , . It I L, ' . . . g .- ' ' . Early in the fall We left the pursuit of study long enough to take up dancing 'mt our Iunior party, and were astounded at our adeptness, considering our last years 'xttempts along that line. Then, in accordance with an old precedent and in view of the fact that it was to the fine cooperation of the class and the valuable 'issistftnce of our director, Mrs. uinn, our play was highly successful, both from the pecuniary and entertainment standpoints. , A snow picnic in the mountains above Pinehurst proved a jolly affair. All kinds of weather were experienced including sun, rain, h'1il, and snow. ' We next selected most attractively designed rings and pins 'is souvenirs of our unior year. In the spring the Senior class, putting aside 'iny differences of opinion they m'1y have had with the Iunior class, invited us to a picnic. We gladly accepted, and af- ter supper frt Roedinv Park, We went to the movies, swimming, or wherever inclin- 'ation led us. To finish our year off right, we invited the Seniors to a banquet, and wished them the best of luck for the future. When one reads author is trying to instruct the reader in his method of life and is indirectly teaching a lesson. Henry Seidel Canby crit- icizes coddling in education when he tells how bad it is and how it is regularly practiced in both public and private schools. The aristocratic coddling which takes place in private schools hinders the pupils from obtaining an understanding of life s affairs. The pupils of public schools are pushed along too much in their education and do not obtain a learning worth while. He expresses this as demo- cratic coddling . He uses other ways of criticizing but does not mention a method for a remedy. This denotes that Loddling in Education is a true critical essay. 'Xi .. z ' ' ' . , ' , . . -I . : . D '23 I ,F 0 ,Scaaptum How do you hke our theme this year? We thought you would When one becomes too old for romance, one IS getting quite old, dont you think? You are going to have your Ecrros for a long, long time, and this theme should be one that will recall v1v1dly to you all of the loyalty the gaiety, and the triumph of a brrmful school year Hasn t this term been one that has left pleasant memories with you 3 You W1ll 1lOt realize just how much it has meant until you graduate It isnt easy to say goodbye As true sons and daughters, lets make our Alma Mater as proud of us in the years ahead of us as she has been this year Please let s do that much for her Why when We stood and sang We Are Loyal Sanger High couldnt you feel your pulse quicken and a strong surge of allegiance rise W1th1n you? If you didn t, then you too must start on a knightly quest a search for fidelity Do not be ashamed to kneel in fealty at the feet of our Alma Mater Our Holy Grarl l1es in our search for the truth and Alma Mater guides us this bool we may relive over and over each happy event Yes I think We shall End that that tiny spark Whlch leeps our hearts Warm With love and loyalty has not smouldered and dropped into ashes with the passlng of the years You will ennov reading the Prophecy We have an authorative report from the Delphi Oracle that is provided Pat well just provided Pat wasnt too astonished to transcribe her shorthand notes correctly Of course yo.1 are allowed your own opinions but them s as heard em beheves in cm The four new assocxations we note are up and coming We were esp cially in terested in the one that says Well here we are or something like that. Did you notice the debaters? Such sad faces! We suppose that debating does that to one. Or were they just trying to take Shakespeare literally-that about finding the mind s construction in the face? Anyway we like the picture better than the photo- grapher s first trial cause we just won t hate feetless pictures. The football boys havent much space this year but we thought so many zeros took up too much room and we said Oh why bother? Next year they can have a page a victory. Of course we didn t mean quite that. The drawings are quite spiffy we opine in spite of the king s funny little nose But we decided that he wouldn t use his nose anyway in knighting young Sanger' so we just wouldn t have it done over. The two gents on the funny page are kinda mummy-like but maybe men are like that when they up and use the rolling pin on their dames. Anyhow the little qua- train below is quite poetic we think. It came from the art department too You will never know what the proof sheet revealed. W'e learned that Maris was in th- Cram School. The joke was on us because we thought that the editorial room was the only cram school. And then it seemed that the frosh girls victorious over the sophs were baseball chaps. Rather interesting if you look at it that way. It was just awfully hard to choose between blue and red for the color. Should it be blue for truth or red for love? And then we said No sir there ll be nothing cold about the 1930 Ilchog red itll be. So there you are. Of course we didn t know the ink maker would upset the water bucket in the ink pot, but then we said Quite right: true love has a kind of pinkish glow. So there you are again. A rosy glow for S. U. H. . And we hope you'll all support Haruko next year. She knows the ropes like a sailor. Edilorz' Ally Eiglrly-seven gQ Uv 1 Q I E 51 ,iqll D .f J n - I ff. . , r f X F .
