P T A Basketball Banquet Numa wwmwf-. l il'- rqfq nn ns n I Q? The conclusion of the Basketball season was highlighted by a banquet, given by the P T A on March 17 The tables, in keeping with the holiday, were artistically decorated with St Patrick's favorite color The master of ceremonies spot was ably handled by the P T A president, Mr Robert Smith, We literally sang for our supper while being served by neat and attractive waitresses After feasting on a meal fit for a king, we listened as Mr Motes made a well chosen speech on sports and sportsmanship The group was led in a school yell by the cheerleaders, Frances Parker and Verna Grimes The party was put in a good mood by listening to a vocal duet by Mr Smith and Mrs Irene Brown A beautifully given piano solo was played by Mrs Brown Coach Sandoval was called on and to his delight everyone lent an ear to what he had to say He then cut loose in well deserved praise of the team Although they had won but a few games, they were hard to beat He presented the team and cheerleaders, on behalf of the P T A , with small gold basketballs inscribed with 1951 and a blue S Mr. Smith then thanked everyone for their part in making the banquet possible. He hoped that a custom had been established which might last for years to come. He then bid all a pleasant Ngood night.N X 6 J A S gs! I I O W,MfWy7 5 v ,, 'f ' ' .
