FRESHMAN YEAR The Senior Class of I947 enTered San Rafael High School in I943, and anTicipaTed a happy four years ahead of Them. To welcome The class, The Freshmen were given The Freshmen RecepTion. As Freshmen we do remember our STudenT Body PresidenT, John Rossi, wiTh his brighT red hair. To beTTer lcnow our schoolmaTes, a Hello Day was held in which everyone goT as many signa- Tures as possible. The dances during our Freshman year included The Barn Dance, ChrisTmas Dance, and The COT- Ton Ball. The Girls' Jinx was given, and much enThus- iasm was shown by all who aTTended and had a good Time. The boys were given oTher lcinds of enTerTain- menT To familiarize Them wiTh The school. We all experienced our firsT formal in San Rafael High School and iT was a real success. lT was called The SweeThearT's Prom. Ed Dillman was elecTed PresidenT on February 3, when he deTeaTed Connie Morey, his final opponenT. So ends our Freshman year, wiTh everyone anTicipaTing The nexT semesTer when we would be THE SOPHOMORESH. OUR SOPHOMORE YEAR I944-I945 The sophomore year in high school and college, we recognize, as did lasT year's senior class, as The one leasT remembered in afTer years. There- fore, lilce The previous class, our Book of Mem- ories has liTTle To record during The monThs of our sophomore year. We reTurned and welcomed our new fall STu- denT Body PresidenT, Don Collins. San Rafael High Bulldogs defeaTed Tam 20-l2, and won The NorTh Bay League Championship. The lasT VarsiTy Championship daTed back To l937, when we Tied for The NorTh Bay League TiTle. We, under The direcTion of Miss Cunningham and sponsored by The P.-T.A., had The SaTurday dances aT The E. STreeT Grammar School going again wiTh inTeresT shown by The sTudenTs. A very successful play was sTaged on Feb- ruary 2. lT was called, And Came The Spring. The reTiring STudenT Body PresidenT Turned The gavel over To The newly-elecTed presidenf, Bill BaglieTTo. ....g Through The eTforTs of Dolores Cooper and Earl WhiTe of our class, who were among The chairmen on The STudenT commiTTee, we opened The Teen Age CanTeen on February 24-Th, which was a very memorable evenT. An enThusiasTic group of sTudenTs formed a music club called The Nu BeTa Sigma . A memorial assembly was held on April l8, I'-745, in honor of Major CuTfe who, because of his friendliness, was lilced by everyone. The whole STudenT Body parTicipaTed in The drive for old cloThes for The ruined counfries of Europe. AlTogeTher The sTudenTs gaThered 6,5l6 pounds, which was l,5l6 pounds over our seT quofa. During The San Rafael CiTy Schools Bond Drive, our Sophomore class came in second place. JUNIOR YEAR We came baclc To school again in SepTember of l945 as Juniors, happy ThaT The acTual firing in World War ll had ceased, and wiTh Franco Giudici as Prexy. The firsT Red 'n' WhiTe came ouT on SepTem- ber l9, l945, wiTh Sheila McKinney iTs ediTor, and The paper ready for a big year aT San Ra- fael High. Our class organized OcTober 29, I945, wiTh lvlr. Dresia as Junior advisor. Tex Richesin was elecTed President Tui Wong, Girls' Vice-Presi- denT3 Del Hughes, Boys' Vice-PresidenT: LisTon Sabraw, SecreTary7 and Dana BarTleTT as Trea- surer. FooTball closed for The season wiTh The Bull- dogs defeaTing The Tam Indians I4 To 6 in a hard-foughT game. One rainy day The 'Big Six , Two of whom were Juniors, made a sTarTling announcemenT To The school-They had discovered a swimming pool beTween High STreeT and The U.S.O. How- ever, upon closer inspecTion, iT Turned ouT To be noThing buT a lowly mud puddle. The spring semesTer sTarTed ouT wiTh Diclc CaleTTi elecTed as new STudenT Body PresidenT. Also, our new Junior Prexy, Bob Duncan. The Mid-WinTer Formal was held on January 26, I946, aT The Ross CommuniTy House which was sponsored by The Les CouTurieres and Ra Ravas. The CloThing Drive ConTesT in February of '46 was won by The Frosh, buT The Juniors, who were aT The boTTom of The lisT oT classes in The earlier sTages of The drive, came ouT second. NOT bad!
