The first group action occurred as a result of the class's spirit as freshmen. We won a War Bond selling contest then and were granted 558500. As we had worked hard on the contest and had been told we could spend the money for our own entertainment, the class desired to spend the money accordingly. An able minority of the class thought that we should save this money, either to accumulate a junior fund to take care of expenses then or to go toward the Senior Class Gift. The majority decided. however. that the V proceeds should be used for a hayride which only sophomores could attend. SPRING The fall officers were retained for the spring semester because of the short duration of their fall term office. The first spring class meeting brought about the grouping of committees. The duties of these committees ranged from the sale of candy in the cafeteria to raise a class fund to the planning of a sophomore assembly. The class presented a skit for the Tam game assembly and entered the clothing drive contest between classes. Unfortunately for our class's rating in the contest, two truckloads of clothing came in after the drive was officially over, due to a misunderstanding. Since sophomores are not eligible to hold Red 'N' VVhite staff offices, the class decided to organize and mimeograph its own class paper, The Sophomore Buzz. We hope that this experience will train us for Red 'N' White reporting jobs. Page Twtnly hvc
