iiir iild an Mateo High Everyone has heard at the various commissioners around school and the vvorlc they do, but hovv many realize hovv important they are? The commissioners are appointed by the president and act as a presidents cabinet. They are: Rally Commissioner, Dance Zommissioner, Art Commissioner, Drama, Music, Radio, Athletic, Grounds, lraltic and Freshmen Commissioners. Ot primary importance to school spirit is the Rally Commissioner, who sees that our school sportsmen are baclred by our cheer eaders, leading us in the lively yells vvhich do so much for the morale ot our teams. Equally important is the Dance Commissioner, who has charge oi organizing all the school dances It is his iob to see that the :lances are a success and that the decorations lend appeal. The Art Commissioner is always busy with orders lor banners, posters and what have you, and strangely, everyone expects iis requests to be Filled in a miraculously short time. The Athletic Commissioner must lceep up interest in sports and see that the games and traclr meets are well publicized, he fvorlcs mainly with the Bloclc SM. Drama and Music Commissioners are lcnovvn for their entertainment. The Drama Commissioner vvorlrs with Playmalrers and the lrama classes. Duties of Grounds and lraliic Commissioners are much what their titles suggest, Grounds Commissioner, with his committee, xrranges all properties for Student Body Assemblies. The Freshmen Commissioners vvorlc with the Counselors in preparing freshmen assemblies and organizing elections ot ollicers or the beginning class. All of this is under that most important feature ol Student Government, the Executive Board, led by the student-elected presi- lent and his stall. Q6 Mfr XM v J Oo
