In SepTember, 1950, San Lorenzo High School opened officially on The Hayward High School campus. The firsT high school To break away from Hayward, iT was only naTural ThaT The new sTuden,Ts call Themselves The Rebels. Because There were Two high schools now, The Hayward Union High School DisTricT was formed. The disTricT grew from Two schools To eighf. One by one, addiTional schools became necess- ary, and so They were builT: Arroyo, Tennyson, MT. Eden, SunseT, CasTro Valley, FooThill. Now afTer ThirTeen years, The disTricT again consisTs of one school, CasTro Valley High. On January 15, 1963, The voTers of This area de- cided To unify The elemenTary and secondary schools. Now San Lorenzo High, along wiTh Arroyo is a member of San Lorenzo Unified School DisTricT. The class of '63 musT look back on ThirTeen years of hisTory and remember ThaT They repre- senT The end of an era.
