Thank God for death! -Author Unknown IILHSS UFFIBEHS FEBRUARY 1950 Alex Montana was born in Oakland, California, but has lived in San Leandro all his life. During his senior year, Alex has been very active in school af- fairs. Among his many accomplishments are H12 president, Block S president, co-chairman of the Senior Ball, and football. Alex states that, l have enjoyed being president of the class, and I would like to thank my counselor, Mrs. Yates, for all the help she has given me. Mrs. Myrtle Yates, counselor of the February class, is a graduate of San lose Normal and of the Univer- sity of California, from which she received her bach- elor of arts degree. While teaching at San Leandro High School for ll years, counseling three groups, teaching mathe- matics and U. S. history, Mrs. Yates has donated much of her time to school activities and social events. Connie Chatham, H12 class secretary, is better known to her friends as Con. She's a vivacious per- son who has been active throughout her high-school days where she served as co-chairman of the Senior Ball, exchange editor for the Cargo, in charge of tick- ets for the Girl-Ask-Boy dance, and as a member of the executive board. Arlene raised herself from a mere Football Queen in 1947 to president of her class in 1950. Her nose for news prompted her into running for, and winning, the position of Cargo page 2 editor. Arlene's press rating allowed her to enter the coveted O. P. H. A, and Quill and Scroll. The smiling lass of 1932 offered this statement to her class: I enjoyed working with our class and thank it for its help in making all our activities such successes. I hope to see all of you again, at our first class reunion, in 1955. Mrs. Virginia Henry, counselor of the lune class, began her teaching career at San Leandro High School in 1939. Meanwhile she has remained at her teaching post except for one year's leave. Mrs. Henry received her bachelor of science de- gree from Whitman College of Walla Walla, Wash- ington. She did post-graduate work at the University of Southern California, from which she received her master of arts degree, As director of the school orchestra, counselor, head of the l. W. E. assignments, and teacher of English, Mrs. Henry has maintained a vigorous schedule. On Iuly 16, 1932, Mr. and Mrs. Camille Bernardeau were pleased to announce the arrival of their daugh- ter, Delores, and now, on Iune 16, 1950, her parents are pleased to inform their friends of the graduation of their daughter. The popular H12 secretary-gal has attended San Leandro High School since the ninth grade. Delores leaves the following statement for her class: It has been a great privilege for me to serve the H12 class as secretary. I have enjoyed every second of it. 1 will try my best to keep in close contact with each and every member of our class in order that we will have a wonderful class reunion.
