The SAN JOSE maintains a major role in the Seventh Fleet conducting underway replenishments to the fleets in order to sustain long combat operations at sea. ln 1981. the SAN JOSE changed homeports from Alameda, California to Guam. enabling responsive service to the Seventh Fleet in one of the most troubled parts of the world - Indian and West Paciiic Oceans. The SAN JOSE has maintained a high-degree of responsiveness and profession- alism during this strenuous schedule in 1984. Her ten conventional transfer stations and two HC-46 helicopters were put to the test during simultaneous replenishment tasks constantly with extreme efficiency, even under rough sea conditions No other Navy in the world can match our logistic resupply capabilities and the crewmembers are to be proud of the highly remitable role the SAN JOSE carries in the United States Navy. -an-A MNH
