VADM James R Hogg, Com- mander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, boarded the SAN JOSE while she was operating in the Indian Ocean July 1984. As part of a select visit to ships only operating in the Indian Ocean, the Admiral recognized both the importance of the SAN .lOSE's presence there and the tremendous performance of the crewmembers.
