Training was intense during the 17 day journey to the Philippines. Daily we conducted general quarters, damage control, gunnery, man over- board and abandon ship exercises. Everyone received several precautionary innoculations before arriving in the tropics. The day before we arrived in Subic Bay the work, training and exercises were completed. Repair Division presented a fire fighting and damage control demonstration. Following the demonstration we enjoyed a cookout on the flight deck. R DIVISION. SITTING - LTJG Mike Stiles.
