l D 770, 70.5, E The Staff of the 1956 EL OROSO takes pride in dedicating this yearis annual to our beloved principal, lVlr. W. S. Brandenberger, who is retiring this year. Throughout his forty-five years of service, thirty-eight of them in the Houston public school system, both as teacher and administrator, Mr. Brandenberger has created thousands of friends and admirers. In times of stress or trouble, Mr. Brandenbergeris humble faith is a pillar of strength. He is a potent influence for high standards and fair play, simply because he is a man who not only believes, but also practices what he preaches. When Mr. Brandenberger came to San Jacinto at the beginning of 1952, Dr. Moreland, the superintendent of the Houston public school system, said, '6Any school that Mr. Brandenberger heads is a friendly schoolf, Four and a half years have passed and through his devotion to his work, Mr. Branden- berger has proved the veracity of that statement ma11y times. His retirement this year is the loss of the thousands of future students who will never realize the kindness, the sincerity, and the humility of an unforgettable personality, Mr. YV. S. Brandenberger.
