Head Foot- ball Coach of San Iacinto High School. His untimely passing was mourned by all who knew him. . Vic , as he was aifectionatley known. 'had grown up with San Iacinto, having attended this school where he starred as an athlete. He went on to Rice Institute. where he made a splendid record, and later returned to San Iacinto as coach of the teams which hephas once so.proudly participated. I-Ie had a way with boys. and they will always remember him by his familiar expression. bunch . Q Back - Iimmy Vater Stuffed Bears San Iac 7 vs. Reagan 27 The last game of the season for the Bears brought them defeat. This defeat gave thepBruins fourth place in the city conference. . Herb Eubanks was again the spark for the Golden Bears, while Iim Anderson led the Bulldogs. The Bears tallied the first points by scoring from the one after an 80-yard march which was led by The Wee-Three, Sam Iackson, Eddie Barziza, and Herb Eubanks. Bob Hooper's try for the point was good. Reaqan's lim Anderson scored three of their four touch- downs and Iackie Reed scored the other. Howard Lev- eritt made three good conversions. Herb Eubanks sparked the San Iac team gaining 288 yards for 29 carries and scoring four touchdowns. which es- tablished a new record in ground gaining in Public School Stadium. Sam Iackson made the other and Bob Hooper made two points by booting the ball between the uprights. Davis scored three times and made one conversion. . They opened their season against Galena Park. overwhelming them 18 to nothing. The closest scrape came when the Cubs played Lamar Papooses. who by the indication of the score 7 to 2, were difficult opponents to scalp. End Carl Iohnson showed his ability by scoring 42 points this season. Not too far behind was full-back Iames Muller who scored 24 points. All together the Cubs scored 119 points, letting their opponents have only 16.
