The Bruins, picked to finish fifth or lower in pre- season prognestica-tions, started slowly but improved steadily, and, at the end of the season, they were con- sidered by many the best team in the city. Vic Driscoll's charges reached their peak in the Port Arthur game, when they overthrew the Yellow-Jackets 7 to 6 in the biggest upset in the state. The Osos had an off night against Lamar, but rocked on through the rest of the season with only a tie at the hands of Sam Houston to keep them from having their best season in l3AA history. Coach Driscoll did a masterful iob with the line, having only three men returning with experience, two of these having seen only limited service.
