Fmn F To the Graduating Class ot l946: You have come to the end of three years in San Jacinto High School and are soon to commence a new era in your lives. These three years have meant much to you, but to say that you have realized all your hopes would be untrue. You do know that you have taken a step in the right direction. During these three years you have developed worthy friendships. You have developed the courage and initiative to undertake those things most worthwhile, although the ditticulties you encountered may have been great. I sincerely hope that while you lingered here with us that the knowledge you have acquired may be most useful, and that the inspirations you have received lead to appreciations and accomplishments that are worthwhile. We've met the fellow bobby-sox, We've swooned when Frankie sang, And though our families loathed the stuff, We've learned the high school slang. The football games were super-best, Just one continuous round Of Proms, Parades, and Picnics, too, We who are Junior bound. Our groups of friends-we've shared alike, Sweets and cokes after school. In those monetary matters, Applied the Golden Rule. A million new delights we've known, Old students know them, too They never seem the same as when We're Sophs, brand, spankin' new. cn, 0 , Q 3 1 X '- gin a 5. K 1: Q I. The group played a brand of ball this year that showed their opposition that they were filled with spirit, a strong determina- tion, and a real love for the team. No little credit can be given to Coaches Lefkowitz and Driscoll . . . they worked together in splendid co- operation and in excellent leadership. Bears 25, Kilgore I2 The Golden Bears got off to a good start with a victory over the Kilgore Bulldogs. Schwartz and Hendrickson turned in a fine game. Two of the tallies were made by Schwartz, and one each by Hendrickson and Brecken- ridge. Bears 6, St. Thomas O Keeping up the good work, the Bears defeated the hard hustling Toms. Schwartz made the touchdown, but Hagen's try for the extra point was no good. Bears l3, Port Arthur I3 Not only winning a victory on the field, but also a moral victory, the Bears tied the defending state champs. Hendrickson turned in one of his best performances. Bears 7, Conroe 6 The hard charging forward wall of the Bears led by Nick Dokos and Carl Schwartz, defeated the under-rated Conroe boys. K Bears l3, Lamar O Again the rock,-wall Bruin line stopped the highly-rated Redskins cold. The Bears' offense was, as usual, led by Schwartz and Hendrickson. Bears 6, Milby 7 Although never being outplayed, the San Jacs lost their first and only game to the Buffs. Hendrickson drove over forthe score and played a cracker-jack game, as did Schwartz, Dokos, and Hagens. Bears O, Austin O Because of illness on the part of some members of the team, the Bears were held to a tie by the Mustangs. This game was hard played and hard fought by both groups, The Bruins could not make a tally, although they were in scoring position a great por- tion ofthe game. Bears l9, Sam Houston 7 Making a determined comeback, the San Jacs beat the Tigers l9-7, the touchdowns being made by Schwartz f and Hendrickson. The hustling line led by Dokos, Nash, and Hagens was a great standout, Bears 27, Reagan O Showing a lot of scoring power, the Bears showed their power by walloping Reagan 27-O. The Bruins had the Bull- dogs on the defense practically the whole game. Randle turned in a fine game along with Powerhouse Schwartz, Hendrickson, and the always reliable Dokos, Bears l9, Davis O The Bears surprised their ardent fol- lowers by completely running away with the game. The Bruin line kept the Panthers from being any type of threat throughout the game. Schwartz turned in one of his finest performances. This game completed a very successful seae son for the Bears. JACK GORMAN Jack was a valuable cog in the Bear grid machine. An offensive tackle, he opened many holes in opposing lines with his alert blocking. RICHARD SCEARCE Big and powerful, Richard was noted for his brilliant blocking and smashing tackles. The big tackle also was outstanding as kick-off man for the Bruins. VIC HENDRICKSON His play throughout the year was the type that inspires teams to success. His 60-minute Def' formance during the entire sea- son earned him his letter and an all-city berth at halfback. JOHN MACKENZIE John, through his outstanding play as ar r offensive and defensive end, earned hi second letter this season.
