SPARTANS GET AROUND TACHIKAWA STUDENT Cindy Lind This year Cindy Lind has been selected as San Gorgonio ' s representative to Girls ' State. She will go to Sacramento this summer to learn about our state government. There will be many girls from different schools throughout California attend- ing this program. The girls are selected on the basis of academic achievements and their ability to get along with other students. Martha Stoeppelwerth Martha Stoeppelwerth has been selected as the representa- tive to Tachikawa, our sister city in Japan. She was chosen from a group of four finalists: Gary Dumont, Simon Pastucha, Wil- ford Walker and Martha. The students are chosen on the basis of personality, academics, and their ability to communicate with others. The students of San Gorgonio wish Martha the best of luck with her travels this summer. Delia Hermoza Muniz Hello: How are all of you? I came because I wanted to know the different thoughts and lifestyles of the people of the U.S. Thank you for helping me with all my problems, the language, and other difficulties. I hope many of you will come to Peru which has many special things to offer you. Sincerely yours, Delia Nancy Carr I spent ten weeks last summer in Batio Pahat Malaysia on the AFS summer exchange program. I lived with the Lui family, which consisted of my host mother and six brothers and sisters. I attended school Sunday through Thursday, visited the fami- ly ' s palm oil and rubber tree plantations, and spent four days in Singapore. I enjoyed it a great deal and would like to go back as soon as possible. It was a super experience. Nancy
