nostalgic memories. On February 2, 1953, a group of B-10's from San Fernando and Sun Valley Junior Highs arrived at the year-old San Fer- nando High School Campus. Although we didn't realize it then, we were to become the mighty Valiant class. We started off our first semester by electing Nancy Press president, we shared with the A-l0's a swimming party at Pop's Willow Lake and a very successful dance. Completing our first year at San Fernando High School, Natalie Press was elected as our A-i0 president. That year we were really proud of San Fernando's varsity football team, which became the City Champs. Our class activities were limit- ed by the full schedule of school events. Time passed quickly and we found ourselves no longer lOth graders. Keith Lockwood served as president for our B-ll semester. He ruled over such activities as a beach party at Playa Del Rey and a very successful sox hop in the Social Hall. Through these, our class united and spirit began to show. ln the A-l l, our president, Mary .lo Caldwell, began work on the selection of our senior sweater, emblem, and class name. After much discussion and voting, we decided upon the name Valiants and chose peacock blue and white as our class colors. Santa Baby's Ball, the annual Christmas dance, which is sponsored by the llth grade, was very successful. For having the best percentage of members we became the proud owners of the Philomatheon banner. This is an honor we have retained since the A-ll. A roller-skating party and a sports night were other activities of our A-ll semester. Finally our senior year arrived, we received our sweaters and celebrated by invading Hollywood that night. Don fBig Stanj Stanley was our president in the B-T25 we enioyed a dance and another beach party at Playa Del Rey. Our big project of the semester was the presentation of the Senior prom, Moonlight and Myths, in honor of the Elysians of '55. Valiants, and Valiants only are dismissed, stated Sandy Kobayashi, Student Body President. The day had at last arrived. We were full fledged Senior Ayes. Sally Sabo led us out of that assembly and many more to come, in a semester full of dances, sports nights, picnics, senior problems parties, and memories. Who can forget the guidance meetings in the cafeteria, the ques- tion ofthe missing senior stone, or the see-sawing on the senior glade? Starlit Chateau, our Senior prom, was presented by the class of S'56. Lucy Tatham was chosen queen and Natalie Press and Joyce Means were her radiant attendants. The Senior supper, and Senior play, The Bishop's Mantle, are memories we will always cherish. Chapel was beautiful, with the theme, Today's Faith for a Greater Tomorrow , Senior tea, and the Aloha dance, the Bongo Ball, followed on that day, just one week before the end of our high school careers. Tonight we will walk down that aisle and receive our diplo- mas and leave, alumni of San Fernando High School.
