This year's annual' is a reflection of you. Contained in diese pages is a pictorial history of. what the students of San Clemente High School accomplished during the 1970-71 sdIooI year. I am sure that you will read this annual with mixed emotions. In many cases, you probably feel you could have done more to , fquulI your dreams, your ambitions, your capabilities -this his only human nature. In reality, most of you were extremely productive. You made the most out of your opportunities. You ' participated in many positive ways in sdIooI connected activ- ities. You contributed to a very successful school year. But, one cannot lobk back over a year just completed with- out honestly thinking about the unaccomplished, the undone. If you failed yourself by lack of accomplishment this is unfor- tunate, but not a disaster. There is you, the individual you. What you are capable of tomorrow, is contained in you today. There is a significant difference between what you are today and what you can become' In the future. Part of the process of ' education is to help each person develop an identity and re- lationship with himself as an indi vidual to the world, the culture, and other people. The high school years provide a time for young adults to develop a- feeling of who you are. This is a time to try different personalities and behavior to discover the person you feel the most comfortable being. Maturity comes when a person is able to express his real seIf without fear of being different or havingto conform to the'irnage of. peer groups. The Class of 1971 is well on the way of having developed a real identity, a real you. Good luck to you seniors, in your FUTURE ENDEAVORS. To the underclassmen, may your seardI be successful for the best that is you. D arrel Taylor
