W-rsumm-emam : ',A euMHWMHm-m- Senior GAA girls show pride in their class of '71 The purpose of the Girl's Athletic Association is to further the interest in ath- letics and recreation for girls. Also to promote a higher physical efficiency among the girls at San Clemente High School, stated Sheryl Jones, the President of the G.A.A. Sponsored by Mrs. Cardello, Miss Hanson and Mrs. Lund, the club sponsored the Homecoming Dance and served at the Sports Awards Banquet. The 50 mile club was a new innovation. It gaveea chance to girls to run 50 miles in 50 days, not to mention the opportunity to keep fit and have fun while doing so. G.A.A. is a very active club on campus, and is one in which the giris of the school have an opportunity to get involved in many activities. They also have a chance to become very involved in sports, some of which are competitive. The girls in G.A.A. work together. They learn to face responsibility. And they gain something of value to their lives, announced Sheryl. I Music Hath Its Charm Under the direction of Mr. Richard C. Dastrup, two outstanding groups, added life and spice to many of the SCHS activities. They were the Madrigal Singers and Men's Quartet. Unity and loyalty to the group have developed the Madrigal Singers ,, into on of the most honored and respected singing group in Southern California. The Madrigals have performed at the 99 Club Convention, Corona Del Mar Madrigal Festival and at over twenty other clubs and conven- tions. The group was selected in the last week of June 1970 by Mr. Dast- rup on blend and attitude. The second of the outstanding groups was the Men's Quartet. The Quartet was comprised of four senior boys who had a fervent inter- est in music. They sing all types of music, and often used guitar as an accompaniment. They have performed at the Ir. Miss Pageant, CAA Father-Daugh- ter Banquet, and the February meeting of the Latin-American Club. The four boys were re-organized in January and this year's quartet consisted of Mario Mainero, first tenor; Steve Hockett, second tenor; Steven Sharp, Baritone; Richard Bunkall, Ball.
