The fall play, Up the Down Staircase, was a milestone in SCHS technical and dramatic achievements. The production was light, quick and entertain- ing. Cindy Johnson, playing the part of Sylvia Barrett, had her hands full as she tried to negotiate her way around and about the students and administration. The play offered its audience a fun-filled evening, one in which real students, real teachers, and real administrators saw themselves at their best and worst. Later in the year, during February and March, Sound of Music excited the campus and community. Through the efforts of Mrs. Sykes, co-ordinator and technical advisor, Mr. Moe, artistic director, and Mr. Dastrup, music director, and a cast and crew numbering in the eighties, SCHS had a musical production to be proud of. Through all four evening performances standing ovations showed the appreciation of the aud- ience as the thespians were bathed in applause. It was, as some said, a professional performance in a pro- fessional theater. The latter remark referred to the redesigning of the seating before the stage. For the Drama Club and those who enjoyed their work, it was a very good year. The officers - Chuck Raht, president; Kevin Kincaid, vice president; Ronny Kutcher and Kathy Graehl, recording and corres- ponding secretaries; and Jim Ashbrook, treasurer-would be the first to say so.

Ushers Club Members Attend Ceremonies at Western White House There were three official students representing San Clemente High School who attended the Stamp Dedication ceremonies at the Western White House. But there were ten unofficial students, these stu- dents were members of the U sher club. These are the same people who have remained unnoticed through Sports Awards Banquet and other similar activities. They are the people who find you seats and are a very important part of the organ- ization of the activity. The Ushers club, which has been passed over in the giving of credits, is one of the most important and active clubs on campus. The members have ushered at the Triton Capers, the Cabrillo Playhouse, Back to school night, South Coast Light Opera plays, Baccalaureate, Graduation ceremonies, NJROTC Awards, and Homecoming. The 25 members, advised by Mrs. Glaser, have also found time to sponsor a Tootsie Roll Pop Sale, and Bake Sales. Heading this indisposable club were, Marilyn Zagwolski, president; Bobbie Wilderman, vice presi- dent; Jane Wilderman, treasurer; and Debbie Van Der Kaay, secretary. rsae-ya'e e ' , Tr 5:; '2 . ,ru'u 3 tot? t '1' ?:33 t K . ;,.; 5 ROW 1-1..
