Progressive Education Club The sponsors of last year's Earth Day , the truly unique Progressive Education club has stated its purpose as such: To expose students to subjects and teaching methods not present at San Clemente High School, and to give students the chance to learn without the pressure of grades. Advised by Mr. Klein, the club carried out its, purpose by auditing several mini- courses, which were very successful at the semester of the year 1970-71. Continuing their completely unique policies, the clubs philosophy on club officers is, We work as one.

Advised by Mr. Smith, the 1970-71 Debate Club flour- ished as an important group. As Brent Waters, the club president said, The debate club exists to enable its mem- bers to search for answers to the pressing questions of current controversial problems. The club consisted of two factions, the varsity debaters and the novice debaters. In order to become a member of the varsity team, the novice must win five debates in competition. The varsity team had two members-Brent Waters and Doug Wright. The remaining six debaters, all novices continued to work towards receiving their honors in competition.
