Club Earns Money for Trip to M exico The main purpose of the Spanish club was to learn about the Spanish lang- uage and culture, stated Dayna Geddes, president of the Spanish club during the 1970-71 school year. The club sponsored many activities including, car washes, bake sales, trips to see Spanish plays, Christmas caroling, and bike rides. The main project of the Spanish club was their trip to Mexico during Easter vacation. We worked all year long to make the money for that trip. boasted Dayna. The 30 members, advised by Mrs. Leon, proved to be one of the most active and enthusiastic clubs on campus. There is a great history and culture supporting the Soviet Union, and we plan to bring it to the surface. stated Jim Hess, the president of the Russian Club, and language enthusiast. A camping trip, attendance at a performance by the Bolshoi Ballet, a viewing of several movies, and Russian oriented dinners were some of the activities that this year's Russian club took part in. I was startled by the number of students who were interested in the culture of the Soviet Union, explained Jim Hess. When asked about the reason for this enthusiastic interest Jim rationalized, I suppose that we hear so much about the Soviet Union that it is natural to be currious about what we are taught so little about. The VIPs of the club were Jim Hess, president; John Filipoff, vice president; Susan Pierce, Secretary; and Bill Gotham, treasurer; and 3K. 19
