Bayman warms up for relay Track Breaks New Records! The attitude and desire of the 1971 track team is to be congratulated, stated Coach Bob Radford. Undoubtedly the coach was pleased with his team. The '71 team displayed a lot of hard work and its work paid off in competition against other teams in the league. It was a well- rounded team, doing well in almost all cate- gories. However, it did have its particularly strong areas. We did well in the long distance and sprint events. Some of the outstanding performers were Bob Frye, 100 yard dash; Brad McKenzie, 220; Steve Peter, 120 high hurdles; Tom Morris, 180 low hurdles; Tim Smith, 2 mile run, Val Ged- nov, shot put; and Vern McCarty, high jump. One of the major interests of the year was Tony Hoffman's breaking of the pole vault record. However, the glee was short lived. Tony was out for the rest of the season with a broken ankle. A few other injuries hurt the team, but by the end of the season the team had performed well and pleased coaches and student body Lazy Days?
