Medical Careers Club Aids With Dental Health Week Debbie Samson tSecretaryl, Karen Reighard tVice-Presidentl, Cyn- thia Slingerland lPresidentl To inform students about the more than 150 medi- cal careers available was the goal of the Medical Careers Club. Under the leadership of Mrs. Barbara Mitchell the Club helped with Dental Health Week. This was held to inform the young and old about dental hygiene. The club also took field trips to LA County School of Nursing, Orange County Chil- dren,s Hospital, and Fairview State Hospital. To aid their treasury and the public, the club as- sembled and sold first aid kits. The Club also organ- ized a file on schools of Medicine. The one wish of the club was that more boys would get interested and join.

Future Teachers Attended lTeaCh-In, FTA Members: Gail Patterson, Robin Ripple, Mario Mainero, Lesile Saleen, Cam Foster, Cindy Pride, Mike Scott, Debbie Vanderkaay, uLearn by doing, was the motto of the Fu- ture Teachers of America. The members learned about teaching in several elementary schools in CUSD. Developing an interest in academic service, the FTA members attended Future Teacher VJ . J , l, w ' ;.......-----. e in Chris Kearneyt Debbie Sorenson, Diane Martin, Peggy Delaney, San- dra Moore. Conferences at USC and other university cam- puses. Also the members attended a lteach-in, with all Future Teachers in Orange County. Not only participating in teaching activities the FTA also took part in Club Week and helped with the Muscular Dystrophy Drive.

Rewarded with many superiority awards, the debate team co-ordinated teamwork and plan- ning under the supervision of Mr. Jim Smith. Helping students acquire speaking ability and knowledge of the various subjects they debate about was the purpose of the Debate Team.
