enior Mdfory The class of '67 invaded the halls of San Carlos to establish some traditions of its own. Overcoming the fears and unfamiliarities of the Freshman year, the class put on its first dance, Autumn Leaves, which was a tremendous success. In March, it captured first prizes for ticket sales and talent in the class competitions for Campus Capers, thanks to the outstanding efforts of Kathy Ebright and Harvey Stone. In memory of John F. Kennedy, it gave a contribution to the JFK Fund and has continued to do this annually. As Sophomores, the class of '67 won the spirit trophy for par- ticipation in rallies and its first-prize Homecoming Float. The class established the first class dinner-dance with a great turn-Out. To finish off the year, in a mystical way, it put on the Farewell Dance, Shangrila. As upperclassmen, the class held the Sadie Hawkins Dance, a smashing success. During the year, the class sponsored Junior break- fasts and Junior beach parties. Money raising events were highlighted by the bottle drive and the introduction of animal cracker sales. The Junior girls challenged the Senior girls in the annual Powder Bowl football game, but the grueling contest ended in a defeat for the more feminine Junior girls. April 30 marked the date of the Junior Prom, Enchantment by Nightf' which was highlighted by the crown- ing of Queen jan Rochek. The last event of the year was the Junior Yearbook Dinner-Dance. Finally, Senior year arrived. Homecoming brought the crowning of Queen Maureen D'Ambrosio and a close to the football season. With the coming of winter, the class of '67 sponsored the enchanting Christmas Ball, complete with a 15-foot Christmas tree in the middle of the dance floor. The Senior boys, under the leadership of fearless Sherman Oaks, formed the Maffeia, which successfully established The Pusher , an entertaining journal. San Carlos sports will long be remembered, thanks to standouts like Bill Schulte in football, Curt Hansen in water polo, and Dave Rose in baseball. Later in the year the Seniors held their unbelievable Senior Ball, a most memorabl.e occasion. June was the finale of four exciting high school years, but, in reality, it was only a prelude to far greater accomplishments, as the class of 1967 left the hilltop campus and entered the world. by Sue Cadwalader and Laura Johnson
