Spirit was high and the fans were enthusiastic but the Don gridders, after downing Burlingame in the opener, failed to register another win until late in the season. Plagued by problems with defense and endurance, the 1966 varsity squad found themselves lacking in the consistency which would have enabled them to win. After losing six straight, the Dons made a belated comeback-beating Cubberly 20-6 and tieing Carl- mont in the homecoming game to finish the season with an overall 2-6- and 1 record.
