We all crave it, we all need it. On the SAMUEL GOM- PERS, ceremonies are held to rec- ognize achievements of all kinds - selection for advancement, qualifi- cation for SWO and ESWS, and se- lection of Sailor of the Year. Sometimes military decorations and awards are given. These recog- nize exceptionally meritorious acts or services that are above and beyong those normally expected.
