Vollegballers Just Short of No. I Spot
A
Girls' varsity volleyball had a
victorious year, despite the fact
that there were only two returning
varsity players. It was a season of
rebuilding for the Texans, but
with an 8-4 district record, they
took the second place crown tied
with Bowie.
The team started out the sea-
son with a loss against Arlington
but came back to take Haltom,
Burleson, Richland, and Bowie.
At the start of second half play,
the Texans again lost a heart-
breaking match to Arlington. This
loss wrapped up district for the
Colts, giving Sam second place
once more.
QAJ Varsity team members include: Cbot-
tom rowj Susie Davis, Deborah McGill,
Connie Martin, Sandra Mitchell, Cheryl
Travis, and Coach Cindy Duval, ftop rowj
Coach Sue Ellis, Lisa Sanders, Cathy Mos-
sige, Kim Small, Alicia Zertuche, Tammy
Dale, Lynn Hess, manager, and Sandy
Davis. Not pictured is Tammy Dale who
moved up from the junior varsity at mid-
