INTRODUCTION Salve. To those whose Latin, like my own, consists of habeas corpus, Ibid. ' and E pluribus unum, it means Hail. Hail to you, graduate. You have weathered four years of Nursing, English, Psychology, Biology, Criminal Justice, Medical Technology, Art, Religion, History, Education, Management, etc. For some of us, it was much more of a struggle than for others. Those people particularly merit our applause and respect. And hail, also, to members of the administration, faculty, and staff who evidenced not only a dedication to the Col- lege, but a dedication to the students as well. Some recognized the student as the customer, giving us our money ' s worth; some gave us a good deal more. Hail to those who not only allowed us our integrity, but strengthened it; who treated us an intelligent peers, instead of subservient children. These qualities, many feel, are epitomized by Sister Mary Jean and Sister Mary Eloise Tobin. Their sincerity and the enthusiasm they manage to transmit to their stu- dents is truly astounding. For this reason, this book is dedicated to them. The 1 978 Regina Maris is also dedicated to Peachy Panitz, a former Salve student. Her personality and courage have endeared her to many. Last, but by no means least, hail to the undergraduates. You have made our time spent here not only tolerable, but a pleasure. So take this book; we hope only that you find within its pages a few of the faces that helped you through the tangled web of academia; the faces it was so pleasing to see in the hallway of O ' Hare, or under the archway of the library, or on the staircase of Ochre Court. Perhaps the best summation of our time here comes from Karen Novak. We have included excerpts from her very relevant and well-received Valedictory Address. To all of you, hail and farewell.
